DESCRIPTION:Tsawwassen First Nation will be honouring Chief Ken Baird with a Chieftain Blanketing Ceremony on Thursday April 7th\, 2022. TFN will also be honouring members of Executive Council and Legislature with commercialized versions of his blanket. \nUnfortunately\, because we are still living in unprecedented times and to protect those that are immunocompromised\, we ask that this remain a small ceremony with those being blanketed and cultural workers in attendance only. \nThe ceremony will be livestreamed\, as per the Chief’s wishes\, so that Tsawwassen Members and community are able to witness this important ceremony. SUMMARY:Leaseholder Information Session - Elders Centre Construction
DESCRIPTION:In 2019 Tsawwassen First Nation embarked upon a Facilities Planning Initiative to design and build major facilities on Tsawwassen lands. Part of this plan includes a new Elders’ Centre designed to support and promote the health and well-being of all TFN Elders and their spouses. Construction of this long-awaited facility is likely to begin by April 2022\, although site preparation and servicing work may begin earlier. The two-story structure will be located at 1871 Tsawwassen Drive and will be approximately 10\,282 sq. ft. in gross area. The design depicts a simple yet functional sloped roof and a bold architectural form mimicking a bird poised to take flight above the water beyond. The main access for the facility will be from Tsawwassen Drive. The existing TFN daycare access will be used at times. DESCRIPTION:The Tsawwassen Government has just received information that children aged 5-11 can receive their first dose of the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine at the TFN booster vaccine clinic on Friday\, December 10. \nThis means that the vaccine clinic on Friday\, December 10 will offer boosters to all aged 18+ that have had two COVID-19 vaccine doses\, and the first dose to children aged 5-11. In addition\, anyone aged 12+ in the TFN community who has not yet been vaccinated\, or has only had one dose\, is encouraged to receive a dose at this clinic. If you would like to be vaccinated now\, please reach out to Health and Social Services (604-948-5231) and we will schedule you in for December 10. \nWhy vaccinate children aged 5-11? [1]\n\nProtects children from serious COVID-19 illness\, hospitalization\, and death.\nProtects against long-term effects of COVID-19.\nWe can’t predict which children will become severely ill or get long COVID-19.\nBenefits far outweigh the risks.\nAllows children to get back to doing things they love and miss.\nVaccinations contribute to community immunity and a path back to normalcy.\n\nStaff is working to ensure that the clinic will be a safe and welcoming place for young children to be vaccinated. \nWhy a booster dose? [2]\nFully vaccinated individuals will have experienced a decrease in immunity since the second vaccine dose\, and a booster shot will provide better and longer protection for the individual receiving it and those around them. The booster shots are for those 18 years and up at this point. \nYou can take up to 3 hours paid leave to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Employees are entitled to this leave no matter how long they have been employed (Government of BC).
