SUMMARY:Leaseholder Information Session - Elders Centre Construction
DESCRIPTION:In 2019 Tsawwassen First Nation embarked upon a Facilities Planning Initiative to design and build major facilities on Tsawwassen lands. Part of this plan includes a new Elders’ Centre designed to support and promote the health and well-being of all TFN Elders and their spouses. Construction of this long-awaited facility is likely to begin by April 2022\, although site preparation and servicing work may begin earlier. The two-story structure will be located at 1871 Tsawwassen Drive and will be approximately 10\,282 sq. ft. in gross area. The design depicts a simple yet functional sloped roof and a bold architectural form mimicking a bird poised to take flight above the water beyond. The main access for the facility will be from Tsawwassen Drive. The existing TFN daycare access will be used at times. The existing linear park (connecting to the boardwalk) will be enhanced as a pedestrian civic plaza area and outdoor gathering place.
