While the risk of contracting COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in British Columbia continues to be low, this could change rapidly. We at Tsawwassen First Nation recognize the importance in working together to reduce the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and taking steps to protect TFN Employees, Members and the Community we work in.
TFN’s Human Resources and Health and Social Services departments continue to closely monitor the situation, including obtaining up-to-date information and distributing helpful information materials so that we are all ready if there is widespread illness in the workplace or at home. We will continue to share resources and information with our Staff and our Community as the situation evolves. Updates and information will be primarily through all-staff emails for TFN Staff and the Community Notice for Members.
If any TFN Employees have any questions, please contact Human Resources.
If any TFN Community Members have any questions, please contact Health & Social Services.
You can stay healthy and prevent the spread of infections by:
- washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- avoiding touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
- avoiding close contact with people who are sick
- coughing or sneezing into your sleeve and not your hands
- staying home if you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others
COVID-19 symptoms* are similar to a cold or flu and have included:
- fever
- cough
- difficulty breathing
- pneumonia in both lungs
(*Experts are currently investigating if the virus can be transmitted to others if someone is not showing symptoms. While experts believe that it is possible, it is considered to be rare.)
If you start having symptoms of COVID-19, you need to:
- Isolate yourself from others as quickly as possible
- Call a health care professional or 8-1-1 (Health Link BC). Describe your symptoms and travel history. They will provide advice on what you should do
- Fraser Health has a helpful question and answer page here.
