Celebrating the Return of Salmon to Watershed Park!

We are thrilled to announce the successful release of 25,000 chum salmon fry into Watershed Park, a traditional harvesting location for the Tsawwassen People. This event, attended by TFN Executive Councillor Valerie Cross, Delta City Councillor Rod Binder, and the mayor of Delta, George Harvie, highlights the importance of salmon to our community and ecosystem.

Salmon are central to the culture, traditions, and way of life for many Indigenous communities, including Tsawwassen First Nation. Known as “The Salmon People,” we honour the salmon for their gift of life and interconnectedness between land and sea. Every season, we hold a ceremony for the first fish catch, showing our respect and gratitude.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and community members who made this 20th annual Delta community event possible. Let’s continue to protect our watersheds and support sustainable ecosystems for future generations.
