Closure of TFN Parks and Open Spaces, effective March 22, 2020

Executive Council has become increasingly concerned for the health and safety of Members, leaseholders and the general public. Many individuals are not adhering to the social distancing directive from the Provincial Health Officer of British Columbia in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is the responsibility of Executive Council to act to regulate, control or prohibit actions or activities on Tsawwassen Lands that may constitute a danger to public health.

To that end, TFN is moving to close congregational pinch points in TFN Parks and Open Spaces, notably:

  • Osprey Park playground
  • TFN Boardwalk access points
  • TFN Rec Centre playground
  • TFN Sports Field playground and recreational apparatus
  • Falcon Way playground

TFN will be monitoring the situation over the next few days. If necessary, a more extensive Parks and Open Spaces closure will be implemented.

If you go outside, please maintain distance from others, and do not touch any surfaces or objects that may have come into contact with several other people. At this time, Executive Council is recommending “shelter in place”. This means:

  • Please stay in your homes and avoid contact with other people
  • If leaving the house for exercise, please go to areas that allow for minimal contact with others
  • Do not touch or use areas that have been used by others
  • Wash your hands regularly and use gloves and hand sanitizer outside the home
  • Please limit shopping to the essentials and buy enough to limit needing to go frequently

Please keep yourselves and others safe!
