The Tsawwassen First Nation Rec Centre (1926 Tsawwassen Drive) will act as an emergency shelter and warming centre for residents of Tsawwassen Lands during the upcoming scheduled BC Hydro power outage.
BC Hydro will be shutting off the power to Tsawwassen Lands for a system upgrade on Saturday, January 18, at 6pm and will not be restoring power until Sunday, January 19, at 8am.
There will be two TFN staff members in the shelter overnight to ensure that residents are able to use the facility. The shelter will be heated and powered by an emergency generator for the entire 14-hour scheduled outage.
Food and drinks will be provided for visitors; however, people are welcome to bring their own snacks or food items. Chairs, couches and tables will be provided for people to sit down.
