Tsawwassen Salmon Habitat Mapping Workshop

June 14 @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Tsawwassen First Nation, University of Victoria, and the First Nations Fisheries Legacy Fund are partnering on a project to understand change in salmon habitats in Tsawwassen territory using historical materials, drones, and community knowledge.  We invite you to join us for an evening of sharing knowledge, stories, and learning.

We will have a variety of materials available to explore, including:

  • Air photos of Tsawwassen Lands from 1922
  • Historical maps and nautical charts of TFN territory from the late 1800’s
  • A map of historical wetlands, stream channels and sloughs
  • 2024 drone imagery of the Tsawwassen foreshore and Brunswick point collected by TFN and UVic

We are also hoping to hear from TFN community members about their knowledge of historical habitat conditions, changes to habitat over time, and visions for salmon habitat in the future.
