Message from Chief Ken Baird | FNHA Vaccine Webinar

CHIEF:
“Good morning everyone, Before I begin, I’d like to thank the Creator for another beautiful day on Mother Earth. Since my last video message, we have left 2020 behind and welcomed 2021 with a new sense of hope. That hope is because of the vaccine. We have been working hard to ensure that Tsawwassen Members will be able to access the vaccine as soon as possible. And we have good news! We are working with First Nations Health Authority to plan a one-day vaccination clinic on-Lands in mid- to late February or early March. Executive Council is relieved and overjoyed that the vaccine is in sight for Tsawwassen Members. That’s the exciting news. But we have some work ahead of us to make this a successful effort. All Tsawwassen Members 18+ on-Lands and close to Lands that would like the vaccine will receive the vaccine, and so will anyone 18+ living with Members. Tomorrow, January 28 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, First Nations Health Authority will hold a webinar for Tsawwassen Members and families to share information about the vaccine and answer any questions you may have. It is so important to us that each Tsawwassen Member has the opportunity to ask questions they may have about the vaccine. After the webinar, staff will reach out to Tsawwassen Members 18+ on-Lands and close to Lands to ask if you want to be on the vaccine list, and if you have others in your household 18+ that also want to be on the list. To get the right amount of vaccines, we need everyone on the list to confirm that they do in fact want the vaccine. That is because we need to make sure we do not waste a drop of this very important vaccine. If you are not ready to get the vaccine just yet, please let staff know when they reach out to you, and we will move to the next person on the list. If that is your choice, please be aware that you will have to wait for the provincially timed Fraser Health vaccine roll-out for your vaccine. This will likely be several months behind the Indigenous community vaccine roll-out. If you need more information before deciding, please reach out to Katie Alexander, Manager of Health and Social Services. There will be another vaccine clinic on-Lands for the second dose. This clinic will only be for those who received the first dose already. Thank you, I look forward to the information webinar with FNHA tomorrow. […] “
