It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of Chief Ken Baird, who passed away last night surrounded by family after a lengthy illness.
Chief Baird was a kind, compassionate and thoughtful leader, who was dedicated to improving the quality of life and well-being for the Tsawwassen First Nation community. In addition to being a long-time employee in the Public Works Department, Chief Baird served as an elected leader in the Tsawwassen Legislature since 2009, including one term as squiqel (Speaker) of the Legislature from 2013 to 2016. He was elected as Chief in 2019.
Chief Baird’s leadership has helped guide the community through many challenging times over the last three and a half years, and he will be very deeply missed by everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
