The TFN Daycare playground will be getting some exciting upgrades in Summer 2026 (July–September 2026).
These improvements are part of an effort to meet updated requirements for playground equipment and surfacing, helping ensure the space remains safe and welcoming for all children. Thanks to grant funding that became available, we’re able to complete these important upgrades.
Once finished, the refreshed playground will continue to offer a fun, safe, and engaging outdoor environment for children, while supporting the daycare program for years to come.
What to Expect
Construction is anticipated to take place in Summer 2026 (July–September 2026).
During the construction period, the TFN Daycare playground will be fully closed once demolition of the current structures begins. Both the infant/toddler area and the 3–5 playground will remain closed until construction is complete, final inspections are done, and we receive confirmation that it is safe to invite children back.
To support continued outdoor play, Fraser Health has approved a “play away” plan. Daycare staff will implement this plan by bringing children to the playground located next to the recreation centre during the renovation period.
There will be no impacts to overall daycare operations. However, a portion of the parking lot will be temporarily closed to accommodate access to the construction site. This area will be clearly marked, and a detailed site and parking plan will be shared with families ahead of construction.
Parents and caregivers should continue to access the daycare through the Blue Heron Way entrance. During construction, families are reminded to exercise additional caution, including accompanying children from the parking area into the building. If any changes to drop-off and pick-up procedures become necessary, daycare families will be notified directly.
Safety measures will be in place throughout the project to protect children, families, staff, and contractors.
Project Benefits
These upgrades will help ensure the playground:
- Meets current daycare playground standards;
- Provides a safe and welcoming outdoor space for children;
- Supports the long-term needs of the daycare program.
We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding during construction and look forward to providing an improved play space for TFN children and families.
