URGENT NOTICE FOR TSAWWASSEN FIRST NATION TRANSIT USERS

TransLink has informed us of an upcoming job action by the Coast Mountain Bus Company, resulting in a temporary suspension of bus services from 3:00 am on Monday, January 22, lasting for at least 48 hours, with likelihood of extension.

CUPE Local 4500, representing approximately 180 Transit Supervisors at Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC), has declared a full strike starting at 3 a.m. on Monday, January 22. If the job action proceeds, a complete shutdown of bus and SeaBus services is expected for at least 48 hours. Please be aware that SkyTrain, HandyDART, West Coast Express, and other contracted services will continue without disruption.

During the strike, there may be increased demand for pick-up and drop-off services at SkyTrain and West Coast Express Stations which may impact demand for curb space near the stations. Please consider using carpooling or active transportation methods to reach the stations. Note that currently, there are no designated pick-up/drop-off locations at the stations. Recognizing that many rely on bus or SeaBus services for daily commuting, TransLink urges everyone to plan ahead, arrange alternative transportation if needed, and factor in extra travel time.

Service updates related to the job action will be communicated through media, social media, https://www.translink.ca/alerts and on https://buzzer.translink.ca/job-action/ . Your cooperation and understanding during this period are greatly appreciated.

For Members who may be experiencing transportation issues due to the job action, please contact Erin Masuch from the HSS Department (604-837-6010) or Seamus Munns for Elders Support (605-832-3306).

Thank you,
Tsawwassen First Nation
